Recent Work

For this current series of work I've employed paper itself as a tool rather than simply a surface. After much experimentation using a variety of weights of paper to create spontaneous impressions in washes of paint, I gradually learned how to control paper as one would with any other mark making tool. Experiments with paper weights, paint viscosity and absorption time result in evocative compositions that feel both momentary and timeless.

My influences for this series are many from the snow covered Pyrenees mountains in winter to lichen covered rocks on the Isle of Skye, from 19th and 20th Century African textiles from the Congo region to the beautiful chaos of landscapes and gardens.
